The Bradman Collection | FREE | iOS compatible
Sports fans and history lovers alike will enjoy this free app from the State Library of South Australia, showcasing highlights of its collection of memorabilia donated by the legendary Sir Donald Bradman himself.
Cricket fans will love the historic photographs and ‘Kit Bag’ of The Don’s cricket bats, balls and uniform. His significance beyond the field is also evident in the miscellaneous mementos – from newspaper headlines to a Bradman Toby jug!
Even the non-cricket inclined (myself included) will be intrigued by gems like the exquisite Royal Worcester vase and a Buddhist temple replica presented to Bradman in Ceylon. These perhaps unexpected treasures remind us of cricket’s cross-cultural history, highlighting how this Australian icon was beloved beyond our shores.
